Storage Policy

Due to the ever increasing amount of data being produced by sequencing services at the DNA Technologies Core, storage policies for SLIMS have been updated. In order to moderate infrastructure costs, the following policies apply:

  1. Files containing the processed data (image analysis, base calling, and alignment folders) will be stored for four weeks. There is no guarantee of data availability beyond this period, so it is important that users archive their data as soon as possible. For the UNIX savvy user, the Bioinformatics Core provides a UNIX-based solution to get your files:

  2. In the latest versions of the pipeline, image data is automatically deleted following successful analysis. In previous versions, images were archived for future analysis, but this is no longer necessary due to improved analysis software.

Please note that paid long term storage is no longer an offered service. It is the user’s responsibility to retrieve their data within the window of time provided.
